Nothing says Annapolis (to me) more than Wednesday night racing.
Grab your favorite dockside seat in America’s Sailing Capital to watch some 150 crews compete in midweek races that involve sailing around several marks in the Bay before heading back to Spa Creek for a finish in front of the Annapolis Yacht Club.
Sailboats big and small converge on the harbor every Wednesday night from May through September. There are several places to watch the action:
Spa Creek Bridge. Several classes of boats finish off the Annapolis Yacht Club and you can watch the action below of the boats preparing to race and then telling tall tales about their adventures in the Yacht Center on the Eastern side of the bridge
City Docks. You can stand in the right on the waters edge and watch the action
Annapolis Performance Sailing on Back Creek. From their docks you can see the boats racing in the Severn River
After the races, head to the Backyard Grill. All the racers descend on the local watering hole to have a beer and talk about the races. They show video highlights of the races on the bar TVs. Plus, the food is great!
